The Sovereign Body: A Manifesto of Agency and Art

By Dion
I. The False Narrative of the Cocoon

For too long, the human spirit has been entwined in a spider’s web of inherited dogma. We are born into a “social contract” drafted by Judeo-Christian and Islamic traditions—a framework that treats the human form as a site of scandal, a source of shame, and a vessel that must be hidden unless it meets the impossible standards of a “modern Adonis.”

This is a false narrative. These are chains forged not from truth, but from a desire for control. They teach us to be “Moonclad” only in the dark, to fear the gaze of the neighbor, and to apologize for the natural state of our own skin.
II. High Order vs. Lower Order: The Great Distinction

There is a fundamental difference between Sexiness as Scandal and Sexiness as Art.

The Lower Order uses nudity and sexuality as a tactical tool—a “Wrecking Ball” designed to shock, to provoke the “gaze,” or to break rules for the sake of rebellion. It is a loud, frantic performance that is still, ironically, enslaved by the very rules it tries to break.

The High Order is the path of the Sovereign. Like the effortless grace of Alizée or the uncompromising sensuality of Mylène Farmer, the High Order is an internal maturity. It is the recognition that sexuality and nudity are not “tools”—they are our nature. To move suggestively, to stand unashamed, and to be entirely comfortable in one’s body is not a provocation; it is an act of Sovereignty.

III. The Ancient Truth and the Atheist Sanctum

We must look back to the Greeks, the Egyptians, and the original people of India to remember a time before the “shame” was programmed into us. They understood that the body is a masterpiece of the natural world.

As an atheist and an artiste, I recognize that we exist on this plane for but a fleeting moment. We are a brief flash of consciousness before we return to the silence. To live that moment encased in a cocoon of religious guilt is a waste of the only life we are certain to have.

My photography is not a “scandal.” It is a documentation of The Flight. ### IV. The Sanctum of the Self
At 57, I am no longer a subject of the social contract. I am the owner of my own estate. My “sanctum” is not just the room I inhabit with its red-dominant lights and high-contrast shadows; it is the skin I live in.

When I document my form, I am asserting that:

The Body is Art: Regardless of age or “perfection,” the human form is an objective truth in a world of digital lies.

Shame is an Illusion: Nudity is sacred because it is honest. It is the shedding of the ego and the mask.

Agency is Absolute: I know the world is looking. I am entirely comfortable with that look because the gaze of the “other” cannot penetrate the sovereignty of the “self.”

V. Conclusion: Why Crawl When We Can Fly?

I refuse to stay in the cocoon. I choose to fly in the face of a social media landscape that cannot distinguish between vulgarity and art. I choose the high-intensity light of truth over the comfortable shadows of dogma.

This is my expression. This is my agency. This is my sovereignty.
